Spring Skiing

Yesterday marked the first time I've ever skied in +60 degree weather! I have to say it was amazing... Arriving at the hill around 3pm we had a sunny sky for the afternoon. Since our tickets were until the hill closed at 9:30, we also took in some night skiing.

Few Days in In Ind Indiana

Saturday evening I arrived back here at GBS after a few great days away. Alisa's Dad was preaching revival at her brother Andrew's church in Indiana this past week. So, I drove up there on Thursday afternoon to spend a few days with Alisa and her family.

Along with attending wonderful services, I also met great people and enjoyed pleasant company. Ken, a Guyanese friend of the family, also treated us to a variety of delicious ethnic food.

Travelling home on Saturday, I stopped at Tim Hortons for a taste of Canada: a large double-double (coffee with two creams and two sugars) and Timbits (donut holes). Good stuff, eh?

Oh, and I didn't Rrroll up any prizes from Timmy's.

Bachelor Breakfast

Since both Andrew and I are alone this week and next (I'm staying at the college over break, and his parents are in FL) we're eating most meals together.


So far, we've been able to create some delicious grub; this morning's "brunch" was no exception. And this time, I actually have photo evidence! Not bad, eh?

Friday Evening Fun

Last evening after the PowerPoint Party several of us went to see Hurricane on the Bayou* at the Cincinnati Museum Omnimax. Following the presentation we went to Ben & Jerry's+ to relax for a while.

PowerPoint Party

Last evening the Mission's Dept sponsored a "PowerPoint Party". Several students, including myself, shared PowerPoints from mission trips we have taken. Also, we ordered-in Thai food, which was enjoyed by all.

Afternoon Sledding

This afternoon Keith organized a sledding trip to Eden Park. We spent ~one hour at the hill during which time we managed to not hurt ourselves too badly. The jump created by Keith and others another day provided an array of spectacular crashes (and a few successful landings)!

Party at the Profitts

This evening the Profitts* hosted a party at their house for GBS students. Great company, food, and games made for a very pleasant evening "off campus" (but within easy walking distance). A big "thank you" to the Profitts for opening their home to us!

Ski Day at Perfect North

Today a group of 15+ students from GBS went to the Perfect North* ski hill in Lawrenceburg, Indiana for a day on the slopes. We had a marvellous day of skiing and returned this evening tired but happy!

My Weekend

While the first few days of my return home were quite quiet, Friday to Sunday were quite the opposite. After supper on Friday, Ben and Melissa arrived from La Sarre via Timmins, where they picked up two rental ATVs.


Soon after they arrived, we departed to attend a Bible study which lasted about 1.5 hours. We looked at Hebrews 10:22-25, and the various "let us" admonitions in that passage.

Following the study, we returned home and suited up. In the December darkness, we explored the trails around Cochrane for about two hours before turning in for the night.

Bright and early (i.e. ~6:30am) Saturday morning we set off again into pre-dawn darkness.

Turning down one unused country road we were slightly spooked by multiple sets of large, quite fresh, paw-prints in the snow. Wolf, we think.

Soon, the morning dawned. We stopped at our friend's place to pick up my brother's snowmobile before continuing our exploration. Over the course of the day we managed to find plenty of snow, water, mud, ice, and gravel to ride on, over, and through.

As part of the Sunday morning service I gave a very brief update from college, followed by a short devotional highlighting the "Miracle of Christmas". Sunday evening I preached from Romans chapter 12 at New Post First Nations reserve, about 20 minutes from town.
