Great Leapin' Polar Bears!

Cochrane has a Polar Bear Habitat with three bears. Since it's only ~ 5 minutes away, we have a membership. We often go to just get some fresh air, and watch the bears play.

Because of the way the enclousers are set up, there are many great opportunities for photos. Over the course of the past year or so, we have been able to take some what I think are good photos of the bears resting, eating, and playing.

If you want to see some majestic animals up close, I've posted a number of my better photos here on my online photo journal.

Winter Camping!

To get this blog started, I will post about some winter camping we did last weekend. Friday evening Ben (a friend from Quebec), my brother Cameron, and myself snowmobiled out to a place we found while exploring a couple of weekends before.

After digging a 4' x 8' area in the snow down almost to the ground, we covered the area with a tarp. Since we were rather ill-prepared because it was a last-minute idea, the setup was pretty sketchy. However, we managed to sleep for a few hours, before packing it in around 4:30am. - minus 20 degrees C starts to feel brutally cold after a while!

Before coming home, we snowmobilied to Tim Hortons (24-hour coffee shop), where we received a few odd looks in addition to the hot chocolates we had ordered! Oh well...

I've posted several more photos of our night in the snow on my Photo Journal...Enjoy!
